Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: The experience begins with a flight from Quito to Coca, followed by a bus ride to the dock and then a 3-hour canoe ride along the Napo River. During the journey, observe the Amazon ecosystem, ancestral communities, and various bird species. Then, enjoy a walk and a canoe ride through a flooded forest, with opportunities to see monkeys and other animals. Upon arrival at the lodge, you’ll receive a welcome cocktail and an informative talk. Afterward, you can participate in activities such as walks or canoe rides, observing Amazonian fauna and flora. Dinner includes special dietary options, and afterward, there’s a nocturnal excursion to search for black caimans.
Day 2: The experience begins with a view from a 36-meter-high Kapok tree tower, where you can observe wildlife, including parrots, macaws, and the infamous turkey vulture. Then, a canoe ride through a freshwater mangrove forest leads to a monkey and bird habitat. The tower offers a unique perspective of the Amazon canopy, where toucans, parrots, and monkeys can be spotted. Next, engage in piranha fishing before returning to the lodge for lunch. After a break, you can explore the lodge or take a walk through the primary forest, observing local flora and fauna. In the evening, join a nocturnal walk to observe insects, frogs, tarantulas, and other nocturnal creatures.
Day 3: In the morning, visit the Parrot Clay Lick in Yasuní National Park, where various parrot species consume clay to detoxify. Then, embark on a walk through the biodiverse Yasuní region, observing unique flora and fauna like monkeys, macaws, and big cat tracks. Afterward, visit the Sani Isla Community Center, where women teach about medicinal plants and Amazonian cuisine. Guests can purchase local crafts, supporting the community’s economy. In the evening, return to the lodge to enjoy the sunset.
Day 4: After an early breakfast, take one final canoe ride through Chawllacocha Creek, enjoying wildlife and the sunrise. Afterward, take the motorized canoe back along the Napo River to leave the region and return to Quito.

A Typical Day at Sacha Lodge
After your reservation, Sacha Lodge arranges your flight from Quito to Coca. A bilingual representative will accompany you from Quito airport all the way to the Lodge. Upon arrival (around lunchtime), you’ll meet your dedicated guide who will design a flexible and personalized experience for your stay.

Days start early when wildlife is most active. Excursions are leisurely and immersive—whether it’s paddling silently through black-water creeks or hiking beneath towering kapok trees. Visit the Providencia Community and share in their jungle traditions and cooking. Stop by a vibrant parrot clay lick, then return to the lodge for a delicious lunch and free time to relax by the Lake Pool or explore the Butterfly House.

Afternoon excursions might include exploring Terra Firme forests, climbing the 94-foot Kapok Tower, or wildlife spotting from the Canopy Walkway. Evenings bring thrilling night walks or canoe rides to discover a different side of the jungle—filled with nocturnal creatures like caimans and giant insects.

Important Notes:
There are no pre-set itineraries—your program is personalized with your guide based on your interests and energy levels. Activities may vary with the weather. All guests are provided with rubber boots and rain ponchos if necessary. Excursions are done in small groups (up to 6 people). Private guides may be arranged upon request. Telescopes are available for wildlife observation, and binoculars can be rented at the lodge.

4 Days / 3 Nights Tour Package

Day 1: Travel overnight by public or private bus for approximately 10 hours to the Cuyabeno Bridge. Upon arrival, take a peaceful canoe ride along the river to reach Dolphin Lodge. Enjoy lunch, followed by a visit to Laguna Grande for a swim and to watch the sunset. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: After breakfast, take a guided 3-hour hike through primary rainforest to observe Amazonian flora and fauna. In the afternoon, enjoy a canoe trip through the rivers and lagoons with opportunities for swimming and possibly spotting pink dolphins. Dinner at the lodge.
Day 3: After breakfast, visit the Siona Tarabeaya community to learn how to prepare the traditional dish Casabe and discover ancestral customs. Then meet a local shaman who will explain Amazonian ceremonies. After dinner, take a night canoe excursion in search of caimans. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: Early morning wildlife viewing, followed by breakfast. Canoe ride back to the Cuyabeno Bridge and return journey to Quito.
